In total we spent 11 days in Canada and stayed in Vancouver, Kamloops, Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff.
Here is a rough breakdown of the costs (October 2022):
Flights - return trip from Amsterdam to Vancouver and Calgary to Amsterdam - 750 euros per person.
Hotels - will cost around 180 euros per night in Vancouver and 115 euros per night in other locations.
Car rental - for 7 days including full insurance and extra driver cost was 390 euros.
Food - restaurant dinner will be around 70 euros for 2 people. If you go for ramen or pizza it will be more around 30-40 euros for 2 people. Lunch is around 25 euros for 2 people.
Canada Parks entrance fee - 96 euros for 6 days.
Good to know:
Tipping culture - it is customary to tip 15-18% in restaurants and cafés (regardless of whether you are taking something to go). If you pay by card, you will see the tipping options on the payment machine and often the minimum is 15%, in smaller towns and at takeaway places we have also seen 10% as an option.
